Why the Zone You Choose Matters

Kanha National Park is divided into multiple safari zones, and each one offers a slightly different jungle experience in terms of terrain, tiger density, and overall crowd. Choosing the right zone can significantly shape your safari experience.

Kanha Zone (Kisli Gate)

This is the most iconic and centrally located zone, home to the famous Bamni Dadar sunset point and some of the park's most photographed tigers. It tends to be busier due to its popularity but offers excellent core-zone forest views and a strong chance of tiger sightings.

Kisli Zone

Located near the main entry gate, Kisli offers dense sal forests and open meadows. It's a good all-round zone for both first-timers and repeat visitors, with reasonably good sightings of tiger, barasingha, and gaur.

Mukki Zone

Considered by many wildlife experts as the zone with the highest tiger density in Kanha, Mukki is less crowded than the Kisli side and offers a more peaceful, immersive safari. It's a favourite among serious photographers and repeat visitors chasing tiger sightings.

Sarhi Zone

The newest and least explored of the four zones, Sarhi offers a quieter, less touristy experience. Sightings can be less predictable, but the sense of solitude in the forest is unmatched, making it ideal for travellers who want an offbeat experience over guaranteed sightings.
